Facilities Maintenance Tech I

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary (LPTS) presents an excellent opportunity for a Maintenance Technician I to be a part of our team and assist in the maintenance and upkeep of our beautiful campus. The ideal candidate should possess an outstanding work ethic and work well with other members of the Facilities Department team to further the mission of the Louisville Seminary. Experience in the facilities maintenance field is preferred. This is a day shift, full-time, non-exempt position offering competitive benefits and pay.

REPORTS TO:

Director of Campus Facilities

EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Some college/technical training preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques
  • Effective problem-solving abilities
  • Must be well-organized and have the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Technical training or certification in a related field (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing) is highly desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Self-motivated, hard-working individual
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • General maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and power plant as needed
  • Inspecting buildings, equipment, and systems to identify any issues
  • Planning and scheduling repairs for maintenance
  • Perform infrastructure preventive maintenance
  • Ability to learn and obtain knowledge from in-house training or available outside training
  • Perform maintenance of outside envelop of all buildings including painting, masonry, and carpentry.
  • Flexibility to respond to after-hours emergencies and perform shift work if required.
  • Maintain neat and professional appearance
  • Come onsite to work on snow days
  • Any other tasks assigned by Supervisor or Director
